Tom Shanley

Managing Director, IT Services

Tom Shanley is a Managing Director of IT Services and has been with the Nakupuna Companies since 2017.
Tom’s role with the Nakupuna Companies is leading the Nakupuna Companies IT service offering, including managing strategic technical partner relationships, developing new service offerings, and ensuring our consultants have the tools and training required to deliver exceptional service delivery.  At present, Tom is managing several multi-year contracts with Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) to provide information technology services support, physical records management, and website content development. He is also managing the implementation of DPAA’s Congressionally mandated Enterprise Content and Lab Case Management System (CMS) which is a massive lift in the agency’s need to modernize both technically and procedurally. Tom is incredibly proud of our role in helping to reinvent DPAA’s internal operations while at the same time improving the agency’s service member accounting and recovery mission. And his pride in service can be felt in other areas as well, as it genuinely carries over into his service support for the Nakupuna Companies’ own internal growth.
Tom began his consulting career as a developer in 1996, and soon after added database design and infrastructure implementations and support to his skillset.  In 2004, with a business partner, he founded Beach Street Consulting, Inc., an information technology consulting services company catering to private sector verticals. Serving as chief operating officer, Tom was also the principal technical architect implementing Enterprise Content & Records Management systems for multiple Fortune 500 companies, as well as federal and state government agencies. Additionally, Tom served with the Maryland Air National Guard.
Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He is also a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and in the past few years has fully embraced the Agile and DevSecOps methodologies as his preferred “everyone is responsible for security” and “everyone participates in development” approach.
