Arlington, VA – On July 12, 2024, the U.S. Army announced Nakupuna Consulting, one of the Nakupuna Companies, was awarded a seven-year, $370 million contract to design and deliver the pay portion of the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A), a revolutionary leap forward in Army HR and payroll processing to improve Soldiers’ lives through pay transparency and mobile capabilities.
Under this new effort, Nakupuna will deliver a total force payroll solution that provides accurate and timely pay while improving quality of life for Soldiers and their families. IPPS-A will provide the Army complete visibility and audit capabilities within a single system for all pay and benefits processing for over 1.1 million Active Army, Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers, as well as West Point Cadets, Reserve Officer Training Corps, and Health Professional Scholarship Students.
“We are excited to bring our payroll development experience to help the Army implement this critical software that will support Soldiers everywhere,” said Jason Greenawalt, CEO of the Nakupuna Companies. Mike Fogle, Chief Growth Officer, added, “Our team has worked incredibly hard to establish Nakupuna as the leading military payroll systems integrator in the industry. This contract is a testament to the unique approach we offer our customers, as well as our commitment to helping them navigate challenging IT implementations.”
Nakupuna was selected from a competitive field of five companies, underscoring its expertise and innovation in military payroll and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Nakupuna’s experience with payroll solutions includes developing the U.S. Navy Personnel & Pay System (NP2), which was released for government testing in May 2023. Once testing is complete, NP2 will deploy as a comprehensive software solution that will transform payroll execution in support of Navy operations worldwide—similar in scope and capacity to what Nakupuna looks to build with IPPS-A.
“Every day our team displays its commitment to doing hard things and delivering working software to transform the antiquated systems that pay the service members who sacrifice so much for our country,” remarked Lance McLain, one of Nakupuna’s Managing Directors of its IT Services line of business. “We can’t wait to bring that same passion and expertise to the Army, enabling Soldiers serving everywhere to focus on their mission not money.”
This award adds to Nakupuna’s growing portfolio of government and defense customers, bolstering an already strong IT Services practice that operates alongside Nakupuna’s other lines of business: Management Consulting, Facilities & Infrastructure, Logistics, and Environmental Services. Earlier this year, Nakupuna was ranked #1 among large employers in the DC area by the Washington Post’s 2024 Top Workplaces.
