HONOLULU, HI – Today, the Nakupuna Foundation has published its 2019 Annual Giveback Report. The report’s theme – “E Hui ʻAna Nā Moku” (The Islands Shall Be United) – characterizes the Foundation’s vision to bring people and programs together to develop a thriving, sought-after Native Hawaiian workforce.
Since 2014, the Foundation and its for-profit businesses have continued to promote and sponsor science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education programs serving Native Hawaiians in the State of Hawaii.
The Foundation recognizes that to increase their potential for success, education programs for Native Hawaiians must be culturally centered and include a strong sense of place. As a result, the Foundation has also increased its sponsorship of programs that advance Hawaiian culture.
“Our investment philosophy continues to mature as we find new pathways to support Native Hawaiians,” remarked Cariann Ah Loo, Nakupuna Foundation Chair. “Importantly, we have built phenomenal partnerships, united in our desire to advance Native Hawaiians through education programs that are grounded in Hawaiian values.”
The report highlights how we have partnered with exceptional organizations grounded in Hawaiian culture and values to produce exciting education, scholarship, and internship programs.
